The first mailer has arrived + two great endorsements
By now you should have received your first mailer from my campaign. I hope you liked it. I am receiving comments already, and it is great that people are paying attention to the election.
I also recently picked up an endorsement from the Sac Metro Chamber of Commerce. I have been endorsed by the Rancho Cordova Small Business Coalition. The coalition formed recently to protest what the city is doing to the business environment in Rancho Cordova, especially on Folsom Blvd.
It is great that more business groups are recognizing the need for a new voice on the Rancho Cordova City Council. Together we will make that occur on November 2!

Candidate Forum on September 23
Hi all
Rancho Cordova is hosting a candidates' forum on Thursday night at 6:30 PM. This forum will be (for now) the only opportunity the public has to hear from all the candidates and see where they stand on the various issues. I am looking forward to a great debate on the issues, and I am looking forward to showing Rancho Cordova why we need a new voice on the city council. The forum will be at Rancho Cordova City Hall. City Hall is located at 2729 Prospect Park Drive. I hope to see you tomorrow!

Endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce
Hi all. I am pleased to announce that the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce endorsed my city council run. Thanks to the Chamber for taking an honest look at my run and recognizing that you do not have to be an established politician to make a contribution to Rancho Cordova.
Do we need more apartments on Folsom Blvd
I met with a group of property owners a few weeks ago, and they are not happy with the city council. It is easy to understand why. The city has rezoned a large part of Folsom Blvd to force the existing business owners to build apartments or houses on 50% of their properties. I really don't think that we need new apartments on Folsom Blvd. Does anyone out there want to live on Folsom Blvd? There is nothing wrong with Folsom Blvd, but it is perfect for business, not for more apartments, especially since we already have a large number of vacant apartments here in Rancho Cordova.
Even worse, the city is attempting to sieze a lot and then sell that lot to the Los Rios community college district. This land owner had a deal with the college district, but the city came in and undercut the deal. Even worse, the city has not stated that they will give the owner the price that they sell the land for. This means the city could seize land and then sell it for a profit. Not a good thing.
For these reasons, we need a new voice on the city council. We need a city government that protects businesses, not a city that destroys relationships with the small business community.

Weekend Painting on Mather Field Blvd
I had a great opportunity last weekend to paint with some people from the Rancho Cordova Leadership group and people from the Cordova Towne neighborhood. You can see some pictures at http://www.cordovatowne.com/.
Ryan Lundquist, the organizer also runs a great community program called Project 680. This organization helps out homeless students. Please take a look at the website http://www.project680.org/.
Thanks again to Ryan for inviting me to the painting party. It was a great opportunity to meet people making a difference in our community.
